The Lyvennet Photography Club meeting in
February was both very useful and enjoyable. Steve Holroyd of Klikr http://www.klikr.co.uk/ delivered a highly intelligible and beautifully illustrated presentation on practical ways to get more from your camera.
He systematically gave us lots of good tips from adjusting the white balance settings and exposure settings to focusing for effect and shooting for competitions and even about selling your work. The example given was the Alamy stock photo library.
Those of us who’d brought cameras could adjust our settings as he talked and questions and observations flew thick and fast. I think we all emerged having enjoyed the evening and having learned something useful.
The Lyvennet Activity Group’s digital projector and screen were ideal for the presentation. This equipment was purchased from The Cumbria Foundation‘s Health and Well-being Grant.
Steve Holroyd illustrated his talk with well selected images from home and abroad: Cumbria, Sri Lanka, Cuba, Tanzania and Borneo from his superb photo galleries.
Note how my photo shows the natural colours of his slideshow? This was because I changed the AWB setting to cloudy sky. Many thanks, Steve. Our next meeting will be March 23 at 7pm at The Butchers Arms, Crosby Ravenworth
